Central Air Conditioning NOT COOLING!
Just recently, my central air doesn't seem to be cooling much. I have the thermostat set to 73-75 degrees but my house doesn't get cooler than 78. I just replaced the filter & I am pretty sure the compressor is kicking on as I can hear it. Could it be that I just need freon added? I have a guy scheduled to come out & perform a "tune-up" on it for $40. He said if it needed freon that it would be $15 a pound for that. How many pounds does an average unit hold & what else could it be? Thanks in advance!
Answer:
probably just a lb or two. if its 95 degrees outside you not gonna get the house down to 72 or 73 degrees whatever you put the dial on the thermostat on. pretty good to get 78 degrees, unless you talking about a 78 degree temp outside then you can bring it down lower.
