Air Conditioning Problem

Question:
I have a Heil home central air conditioning unit that is having troubles. The temp of the air coming out of the vents is luke-cool and the unit seems to be running continuously, even at night. Last night I washed the fins around the cooling tubes to make sure air flow was good. I noticed ice on the tubing leading into the house. I went into the attic and the area of the blower that runs over the cooling coil is cool, not cold but cool. Someone mentioned a blocked line isn't allowing the coolant to reach the blower unit. Any other possiblities?

Answer:
With ice on the line you may just have a problem with the charge. It's time to call someone out to check the unit. If the charge is low insist that the tech find the leak and give you a estimate to repair. This could also be a metering problem which would involve opening the system, something that doesn't fall in the DYI category. From what you describe, You need to check the filter and make sure it is not dirty. If it is OK, then you need to call a HVAC technician and have him check the charge of refrigant. It sounds like you have a low charge(leak).
