Air Conditioning

Question:
Everything you want to find out about air conditioning: history, applications, installation, repair, maintenance. All tapes: central, mini-split, portable, window, car. And descriptions about many most popular producers.

Answer:
Hi, about fours years ago, I replaced my central air unit. When I was getting estimates, I was told I need a unit 2.5 - 3 tons. I got a 3 ton Trane compresser/condensor unit, and evap and return unit all new parts except the original ducts and duct work. My problem is when it is hot outside the compressor is always on, at night the house reaches the preset temp and the compressor shuts off. Yesterday, it was 90 and the house couldnt get cooler than 82, Forget it when I have people here, we all sweat. I have a sight glass and the freon level looks good, no bubbles, The return air filter is new. I will buy a thermostat today to see the temp coming from the duct. What should the degree of temp difference be from return to output at vent. The ceiling is well insulated. I was told the return is within the specs of Trane. I felt if it was larger more air would exchange helping my problem. I am thinking of vacuuming the system and recharging, I am stumped. Thanks for your help.
