My Neighbor Lends Her Cigarette Smoke To My House
Put a fan into a window on the far side of the house, drawing air in, so that the windows on her side are exhausting air?
Answer:
I'm only guessing, based on what would cause me to confront my neighbor. Of course, this list also offers some suggestions on what you could do to fix the problem yourself. While you can't change your neighbor's smoking habits, or the direction of the wind, you CAN open other windows, buy a fan (as others have suggested), or close your windows and turn on the air conditioning. At the same time, you may wish to buy some type of air cleaner. If you are TRULY as sensitive to air pollutants as could be inferred from your post, it is possible that your health insurance will even cover the cost of the air cleaner. I think that even the best neighbors can sometimes be annoying or a nuisance. My neighbor up the street is one of those people who thinks it is appropriate to allow her cat to roam free. I find dead songbirds in my lawn on a monthly basis. My neighbor down the street likes to use his fireplace -- too bad for me that the slope of the land puts his chimney at the height of my bedroom window, AND that he sometimes burns green wood. Three doors down there's a guy who got a Harley last month -- it must be some unwritten law of Harley ownership that you have to spend what seems like an hour revving the engine to achieve the perfect pitch and decibel level before riding off. I'm sure I do things that are just as annoying to them. However, we are neighbors, and that means that we have to live together. Address the things that truly matter, and tolerate the rest.
