Clothes Dryer Vent

Question:
The house we are about to purchase is set up so the clothes dryer vents into the garage rather than to the outside. Does anyone have any opinions on this? Is this common? Is it a good or bad practice? Would all that warm, moist air cause any problems in the garage?

Answer:
I agree about the humidity in the garage. AND - you better buy two brooms - one for each hand. 'Cause you will never keep up with all the dryer lint in a garage ! If you have a choice - install a vent on the "downwind side" of the house, so the moist air and lint is carried away. If the dryer is electric, they do make a water filter for the air, that will take the lint out. The heat can be used to heat the garage. If you have any other items in the garage that you want to keep warm, this may be the way to go. If the garage is already heated or for summer use, you may want to consider venting outside. Keep all the heat for your own use if it is possible. Good luck..... MIke
