Furnace Filters ?

Question:
I have recently had my first furnace installed - converted from electric cable type heat in the ceiling. I love the gas furnace ... although anything would seem great compared to what I had. How often should furnace filters be changed?

Answer:
They should be checked once a month, unless you have an electronic air cleaner, then it MUST be CLEANED once a month. If you have a "media" type filter (space gard) then check it every six months. When they get dirty enough to be plugged. Don't let dust build up until it cuts the air flow. In my house that can be anywhere from 1-2 months, depending on how much the blower runs.
