Replacement Of Clothes Dryer Sensor?

Question:
Greetings; we have a 12 year old Sears Kenmore Clothes dryer with automatic dry sensor. Over the last 5 years we noticed a decline in the drying ability. I'm wondering how to trouble shoot this as a sensor problem or element problem. It's pretty tight quarters in the laundry room so I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this. I notice when it's mid or early cycle, the clothes do feel hot to the touch, so I expect the elements are working.

Answer:
That will only check conacts, but that will not tell you at what temperature the thermodisk is cycling.. It is just as easy to stick a thermomater in the vent, as close to the exhaust port of the dryer, to check temperature. Sounds like you have an air flow problem (most likely in the house venting), VERY common. If you have not had the unit service for a while, you may want to do this. There are many web sites that explain how to disassemble the Whirlpool manufactured dryer.
