How Much Would It Cost To Repair A Leak In A Honda Air Condition System?
I've just had my brakes fixed (replaced) during a service, and paid about £600 for the pleasure. I have also been told that the air con is leaking, and that the garage I took it to (Kwik Fit) can't repair leaks. Does anyone know how much it would cost to repair the leak? It could be in the pipe or the radiator? no idea, but thats what the guy said.
Answer:
Air conditioning systems in most cases will either leak at the hoses or where the hoses fit into a component. Unless the vehicle has been in a collision, it is not likely to have a leaking condenser although is very possible to have a leak at the fitting of both the input and output of the condenser. Refrigerant is one of those sneaky devils that seem to always escape. This is why leak detector kits use an ultraviolet dye which is put in with the refrigerant. You will need to have a portable black light. If you purchase the leak detector kit at an auto store and follow the directions, it is most likely that you'll be able to diagnose exactly where the leak is. If you then take your car to a service station that does air conditioning and tell them that you detected the leak, they will put a new O ring if needed and then tighten the fitting for you before recharging your system. This would be the most inexpensive way to repair the leak in your Honda air conditioning system. The approximate cost in U.S. dollars would be $40.00.
