Air Conditioning Repairs?

Question:
My house has a Rudd Air conditioner installed in 1994 when the house was built. The contact points on the 24v relay at the unit are burnt. I sanded them as best I could but I really want to replace the part. It's a Honeywell R52426. Problem is that part # no longer exists. Grainger's has 2 in their catalog and both look a lot like the one I am replacing. Does anyone know if it makes a difference ? If I go with the most expenxive one, will that work for either application ? Kinda stumped here, so any help is appreciated. Thanks

Answer:
makes no difference, it is just a relay switch for off and on of the 220v. They are called "contactors" a name for higher voltage relays that slam the contacts closed quickly and hard to avoid any arcing which will burn the contacts. But as you figured out they burn eventually and go out. It is rather common. As long as you can fit it in and screw it on they are VERY generic. The only consideration is power and 24volts coil but most are plenty heavy for residential use. The only reason I used an exact replacement is if it fit in a real tight spot or I was being lazy and didn't wnat to drill any holes for the mounting screws which usually were 1/4" headed sheet metal screws.
