After Market Air Conditioner For Tj
I was wondering if anyone here has much experience with purchasing/installing the after market air conditioning systems on tj's that didnt come with factory air systems. Specifically I have two questions: 1) how difficult was it to install? and 2) what prevents the newly installed a/c from running all of the time? generally speaking, tj's have an "a/c" setting that lets you know when the air has been activated. since my tj now on has the "cold - hot" dial and nothing specifically marked for a/c what would i do to turn the air on and off. does this make sense?

Along similar lines, is it possible for a mechanically inclined, but unpracticed in car repair person (me) to replace my radiator by myself? I saw a radiator on that website that appears to be relatively well priced. Is it possible to do? Or would I be better off having a mechanic do it? Actually, Consumer Reports published a study last week that says that running A/C doesnt significantly effect gas. This came as a shock to me. I have always heard and believed that it does, however a very credible source says that it doesnt effect millage significantly (they would know better than I). Their study concluded that going over 60 mph with the windows down creates a drag that is equal to the gas that one would burn running a/c. they DID say that in town, stop and go driving would slightly elevate the cost however it was still not significant. So, that leaves the option of burning up (as another suggested), running 60+ mph with no air and windows up, or getting a/c and being comfortable. Not trying to start and argument, just stating what I read...
