Air Conditioner Repair ?'s
I have just replaced the compressor for my air conditioner. clutch was o.k., also all new belts. added 6 cans of 134a coolant and 1 can of oil. (this is for a 1980 winnebago, 440 dodge). The thermometer reads 68 degrees at engine idle, out of the dash. Seems to me that this is too warm yet. I don't see fluid in the glass eye. What temp. should it get to? What else can I do? I am going to go for a trip around town to see if running at a higher rpm will do it. If not I guess i'll add more coolant. Your imput is very much appreciated,

If you don't see any bubbles in the site glass you may have already over fill system. Suggest you check with A/C shop for correct filling directions. Have not personally changed an R-12 system over to R143a. When they first started doing change overs you had to also change the hoses, but from what I have read lately that may not still be true. Also did you use a vacuum pump to remove the air from the system and any remaining R12?
