Costco : Danby Portable Air Conditioner $399

Question:
Hello...purchased the Danby Air Conditioner 11000 btu and what a relief ...that cool cold air in the middle of a desert!!! but... can anyone tell me why in Vancouver area I am getting buckets of water in my a/c water tank at the back? I seem to have to empty the bucket everytime I put the a/c on?

Answer:
While it may be high humidity, I'm willing to be one of your microswitches is dead. Particulary the microswitch that controls whether excess water is dumped across the cooling coils so it gets evaporated and exhausted with the air. My Danby has been a POS lemon since day 1. It's been in the shop 3 times in 2 years. I'd advise all of you to get the extended warranty or pay more and get the Delonghi. I've talked to 2 different repair shops and both admit that they see 5 times more Danby vs Delonghi. Perhaps, and I'm just guessing here, but could it be that they get more Danby's because there are more Danby's made/sold than Delonghi's? Thus statistically a higher chance of probability? Also, what was wrong with your Danby? 3 times in 2 years? Did yours have a microswitch problem?? (I ask because my new Danby a/c fills ~1 tank full of water per 24 hr cycle on a hot humid day in Ottawa).
