Sears Garage Door Opener
All of a sudden my remotes won't open my garage door. I've replace the battery in them, but still no good. I reprogram them and they work once or twice then stop working. The button on the wall still works, though the little green night that used to be lit solid is now flashing very fast. The safety beam is alligned and clear. Anyone have any thoughts?
Answer:
If it's a programmable opener, it may have lost its memory of your openers. There's a button on the opener next to where the wires connect that "teaches" it about your remotes. Here's a copy of another post that may help. This one was referring to an outside mounted keypad that Sears sells. Where the reference is to the keypad's Enter button, just hold down the big button on your remote. My opener is a 139.53962 and the keypad mounted outside is a 139.53684. There's not a pre-set number, just whatever was programmed into it. If you have the same or similar models here's the instruction from the manual: "To Add the Keyless Entry We recommend that you program your password before you install the Keyless Entry. You will not need assistance, and you can test the reception at the mounting location before installation. (You'll either need a helper or just take the keypad off of the wall.) If you have a Premium Control Console: 1. With the door closed, press the four digit password desired, then press and hold Enter. 2. Press and hold the light button on the door control. 3. Press and hold the door control push bar. 4. After the opener light flashes, release all the buttons. If you do not have a Premium Control Console: 1. Choose a 4-digit password using numbers from 0 to 9. 2. Press the four buttons for the password, then press and hold the Enter button. The indicator light on the door opener panel will blink. 3. Press and release the SRT (learn) button on the opener panel. After the opener light flashes, release the Enter button. Test by pressing the password, then press Enter. The door should begin to move." FYI; The SRT (learn) button is on the left side of the opener chassis where the wires connect. On older models, it was a little black button. On newer ones, it's a red square button. Net of all of this is that on the keypad, you press the four digits that you want, then press and hold the Enter button on the keypad. While holding the Enter button on the keypad, you hit the Learn button on the opener and it stores whatever the remote is transmitting at that time.
