Genie Garage Door Opener
I lost my Genie garage door remote opener two days ago. I think my kid's friend took it over went he came over the week-end. I bought a new one at Home Depot and programmed it according to the instruction so I can use it for now. What do I need to do so whoever took my old one can't open my garage door? Your help is very much appreciated.
Answer:
All you did was add another transmitter to the list of transmitters that the receiver will respond to. Your opener will still respond to the lost transmitter. In order to disable the lost transmitter, you have to make the receiver forget about all the transmitters it's programmed to respond to, and then add back the transmitter(s) that you have in your possession. For the Intellicode conversion kit receivers, you do this by pressing AND holding the "Learn" button until the radio signal indicator LED goes out. This takes about ten seconds. The Intellicode openers are probably the same, I don't see any extra buttons on them for doing a reset.
