Sears Garage Door Opener
I replaced the gears in my Sears 1/2 horsepower opener about a year ago. Now it needs replacing again. Should I replace it or buy a better garage door opener. The door is a steel two car garage door. I thing it's 16 ft. P.S. The door appears to be balanced properly.
Answer:
sears will most likely take it back no quetions asked if it really is only a year old...I've installed about a dozen Sears openers in as many years. All are still working fine. However, I recently replaced (not my install) a 5 year-old sears opener which had fried the worm gear. The opener wasn't properly installed and was ripping out of the ceiling, this made the track twist and suqsequently put too much stress on the worm gear. The motor still worked fine. I suggest you try to figure out what broke, and why before getting another. 2 in a year isn't right.
