I need a new set of plastic gears for my Crawford 1/2 hp garage door opener but I am told that Crawford no longer exists. Will the gears from any other brand fit an old Crawford garage door opener?

Depends on how old and who really made the opener. It's tough to find parts for openers that are over 10 years old. Try calling you local garage door companies, you may get lucky. You'll be shocked at the cost of replacement if you find one. For a little more, you could just replace the whole unit.
