Garage Door Opener Installation
I just finished running power to my single car detached garage and now want to have a garage door opener installed. I've never even thought about installing one of these and would like to know if it's something that a decent DIY could do. My garage is rather small with a front pitched roof. The area above the door is rather compact and some alterations to the garage's roof supports would be required in order to fit a door opener in. Is this something you would recommend or would you suggest to have it professionally installed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Answer:
No problem assuming your garage meets the 'specs' on the opener package regarding clearances, etc. I installed a GDO which I purchased at Sears for about $150 or so in my detached 2-car garage. It took the better part of a day to get it totally adjusted (opener and door) and wired, but it was pretty straightforward. I'd say, go for it.....
