Garage Door Opener Stopped Working
I have a 3-4 year old Craftsman Garage Door Opener that stopped working after a power outage. The light on the remote on the wall is on but when I depress it I only get a clicking sound from the opener. The indicator light on the rear panel blinks and I have tried many, many ways to press it, hold it and try as I may I can not get the opener to work. I suspect it is not broken because there is power to the unit and the light on the panel "works" but maybe it is just wishful thinking. The directions do not have trouble shooting solution for this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I had this happen just the way you describe with my Genie Opener. Though the light would come on, the chain would not move. About a week later, I pulled into the driveway and the door went up! It turned out that the garage door opener had been crammed in the car's console with the button jammed in. I popped out the button. This lead me to rethink if for some reason the jammed button signal being constantly on had anything to do with the door not operating. Things still didn't work after I unplugged the opener (hoping to reset it). I started to replace the wall button but stopped after I saw that I had the wrong type of replacement and just put the old one back on. After I did that, the whole thing worked and hasn't quit since. I have to wonder if there was some sort of corrosion on the wall switch and also if the remote that had the jammed in button overtaxed the opener system somehow. For what it's worth, that is my similar experience.
