Garage Door Opener Problem

Question:
One of my garage door openers has begun to stop on the way up when the temperature falls into the 40's. If I give it a push, it will go on up, but it can't make it on it's own. It works fine when the temperature is higher. I'm sure that means it is just worn out, but before I call someone out to replace it, I thought I would ask any of you who are familiar with garage door openers if this appears to be the case to you.

Answer:
i had the same problem with a 20 yr. old sears garage door opener.... it is a screw drive.. at first i just sprayed some wd-40 on the track and wiped off some of the old grease... this helped for a while.. i later took the track off and but it in the back yard and took the screw drive out and used a wire brush and some spray on brake cleaner(its a solvent that will cut the grease off)... the old grease was filled with dirt and it was like putty on the screw... this is what the problem was... i also checked the upward fore on the unit(an adjustment screw mounted on the side of the body of the opener... never had a problem with it since, two years of free operation... might be your problem????? i later changed both springs on the door, about $25 for the pair.. i guess the cold weather on the springs might have some reaction also?
