Garage Door Opener
Is there any place I can find a replacement remote garage door transmitter for my sears craftman garage door opener? The door opener was installed in 1980 and for years I had a maiteneance agreement until I learned how to do the routine maintenance.I have tried sears parts and they say they cannot help me since the door opener is so old. Now we have only one transmitter for the entire household. I am hoping I will not have to buy a new opener just to have more than one remote.
Answer:
You need to buy a replacement radio control kit.The 20 year old controls are not available anymore. The kit will have a new receiver that will hard wire to the opener,a "wall wart" power supply that you plug into the 110 socket, and one or two transmitters.I think the new kits are equipped with the "rolling code" security feature. You can buy them at Home Depot,Lowes,Sears etc. After you have the upgrade kit,you can buy as many transmitters as you want.No muss,no fuss.
