Sears Garage Door Opener
Have a Sears garage door opener about 20 years old, came with one remote. It is the type that has a 4 inch by 8 inch box on the wall that is hooked up to the main motor with two bell wires from the base remote. The wall base remove gets it electric power from the two bell wires as it is not the type that is plugged into the wall outlet. I wanted to get another remote and was told that sears does not have them anymore. I bought a Stanley wall remote that has a plug into the wall and you hook up the two bell wires back to the main unit-it came with two remotes, looked great until I hooked it up. The door would not stop going up and down by it self. I think that the alternating current was making it go up and down. Any one have any solution to this? I see where sears has a converter for old garage door openers the new wall box comes with two remotes and it has the rolling code. but it has a plug in transforer and I hate to buy it and get it home and find that I have the same problem with the old stanley remote..
Answer:
I had the same opener in my house when I bought it. Got a wall wart transformer from Sears that is the RF receiver. It came with two remotes and a wall button. Works just fine. The remote is the old type with the Green light (vs Red), one large and two small write buttons. I thought I saw them just the other day at Sears Hardware store. The only thing is that is doesn't have a "rolling" code; its one code forever. You're probably getting a later version.
