Electric Eye On Garage Door Opener



Question:
Does anyone know the proper procedure for aligning a garage door opener's electric safety eye? I believe it is infra red as I can't see the beam. I think if it is more trouble than it is worth, I will just disable it. However, I would like to fix it. Any info would be appreciated.

Can't help you other than that it supposedly has a large beam. The guy who put mine in said to move it around 'till the indicator light comes on if it gets out of adjustment. I'd like to know how to disable mine anyway. With my old door, I learned that I could have it starting down as I was backing out. This saved me from waiting to see if it would stay down before driving away. The light also makes it difficult to start the door down and run out of the garage. I now have to hop over the light. Seems to be inviting hitting my head on the door.
