Garage Door Opener Won't Fit

Question:
I have purchased a Sears Garage Door Opener that will not fit in my garage. I have 9 ft. 6 in. distance from my header wall to a 1 ft. 5 in. wide support beam that runs across my garage, parallel to the garage door. The T-rail from header to the back of the motor is 10 ft. 3 in. Does anyone know of a solution? Or, Does anyone know of another brand of Garage Door Opener which has a shorter T-rail?

Answer:
I installed a Sears opener in my garage and it also fell where there was no support. My solution was to get some joist hangers (those little metal brackets) and hang two 2x4's between the rafters (the 2x4's are perpendicular to the door) and then I could affix the opener motor wherever I needed to using the metal L-bracket which was included in the kit. It worked out great and by doing this the length of the T-rail was unimportant. If the distance between the rafters (or whatever support is there) had been very large this might not have been so simple but I still think it can be done since the motor itself is not all that heavy. -----------------------------------rafter 1 | | | | | | | | <----added these supports | | (opener hangs here) | | | | -------------------------------------rafter 2 (about 3' spacing) | | | <----T-rail | \-/ ----------------------------------------garage door
