My Garage Door Opener Will Smash My Ca
After our inspector went thru our new/used house today he pointed out that are garage door opener safety feature does not work. Meaning when the door comes down and makes contact with an object it does not reverse. I have a craftsman 1/2 HP Model 139.53515SR. There seems to be two knobs to adjust downward and upward force and that's it. If I adjust the downward force will it fix the problem?

Yes, somebody probably just cranked it up and didn't bother setting it right. It should be set on the minimum force needed to work the door without reversing. You should be able to block the door's movement with your hands without a great deal of force.
