Garage Door Opener Creepback - Help!
I bought my house about a year ago. There is a garage door opener installed. Its a 'Overhead Door Company 450A'. Never heard of them before... Its attached to a double wide door. When the door goes up, it stops at the proper place and then slowly rolls back down. Its as if a braking mechanism has failed. I tried messing with the position of the bar on the chain that trips the relay closed, but no luck. Anyone have any ideas?
Answer:
With or without an opener, a garage door should stay open or closed on its own. The opener does not have a brake. You should be able to disconnect the opener and operate the door. It should stay open and stay closed by itself. You probably have a defective spring. Operating the door with a defective spring can damage your opener and the door mechanism. You should get it replaced.
