Genie Garage Door Opener Question
I live in Maryland and had to open my garage door while I was without power. I used the short cord/rope that WAS attached to the garage door opener to open it manually. When I went to use the same device to close it, the rope assembly came out of the "carriage inner slide". Can anyone tell me how to attach the rope assembly back to the inner slide, as now the inner slide cannot open, or close, the garage door. The slide operates correctly, but it is disconnected from the arm that is attached to the garage door. All help is greatly appreciated!
Answer:
It sounds like the spring fell out of the carriage when the rope came off. You didn't say what kind of opener you have, but there should be a small spring that holds the carriage tab up into the inner slide. These springs are usually very small & difficult to find after they bounce across the job. Sounds like you either need to replace the carriage or you would need to but a bolt through the carriage tab to hold it in place. Of course the next time you need to open the door manually you would have to take the bolt out or disconnect the arm from the carriage.
