Stanley Garage Door Opener Stalls



Question:
I have a Stanley garage door opener that has recently stopped as the door is opening. I have to stop until the lights blink and then try it again. At this time, it usually works. Anyone had this problem. The spring on the door lift mechanism is properly set so the door opener is not overworking.

Answer:
The door can be reasonably well balanced and still stick at certain points in its travel. Watch the door as it goes up and down and see if one side or the other seems to "catch" just before the opener stops. Then study to see what's causing the "catch". I had a similar problem with my door and observation revealed that the door would tend to slip too far to one side as it went up. I placed a hone clamp around the shaft of one of the rollers to keep the door form slipping over and it's worked like a champ since.
