Garage Door Opener Q
I've looked through the archives and cannot find likely answer to my problem. Maybe someone here an help... The garage door opener isn't working. It is a chain drive system, just a couple years old...something made by "Access Master." When I push the remote (wall and handheld) it moves the chain a few inches. Both ways. I disconnected the unit from the garage door and tried it that way--same thing. I unplugged the unit a couple days ago. I plugged it in again today and pushed the remote button...the chain moved the whole length and stopped, as though it were closing the door. But, then each subsequent push of the button only made the unit move a couple inches until it reached the position where the garage door would be fully open. Then, the same thing, a back and forth movement no more than a couple inches each time. I thought that the unit may have gone bad, but the fact that it worked for by moving the chain the length of the track, it makes me wonder. There is nothing blocking the laser sensor, either. Any ideas? Thanks!
Answer:
I expect there are several possible problems, but when I had the same symptoms a couple years ago, the manufacturer told me my light sensors were out of allignment. I thought they were crazy because the LED went on and off properly, but when I move them a bit, the door worked fine.
