Garage Door Opener At An Angle?

Question:
Funny that, there was an article in the most recent Wood (or Fine Woodworking) where there were pictures of this very thing. No real detail tho, just a sentence or two, and a picture. There's no reason why not, provided you manage to get the springs adjusted right, and manage to reengineer the track without putting lumps in it. The real hazard is the fact that when up, a normal installation is just sitting on the track. On a diagonal system, things are under tension at all times. This suggests more care is needed with spring adjustment, and perhaps going a little overboard on beefiness (ie: track support, rail composition etc.)

Answer:
One detail that I see bad is that if your electricity goes out and you have to raise the door manually to get your car out. You'd have to lift up the door and somehow lock it open so it doesn't come crashing down on your head.
