Garage Door Opener And Cool Weather
My garage door opener will open the door in cool weather but refuses to shut it. When the weather warms during the day, it works fine. I have taken the cover off the opener and don't see any obvious problems. When I release the door from the opener chain drive, it closes by hand with no problem. Any suggestions?
Answer:
It could be that your garage frame moves just a little bit with the weather. Try turning the down sensitivity to the more or + mark just a little. Also, if you have a screw drive operator, try greasing the screw. Use only LOW TEMP grease. Lubriplate makes a low temp grease. I'm sure you can get it at any big box store. My service technician that has been with the company for 40+ years would also use a bar of paraffin wax and wax the jambs.
