How Long Do Portable Air Conditioners Last?
I picked up a Haier 7000 BTU portable air conditioner off ebay. It was only used 1 summer and looks new. How long do these things generally last. I live in an apartment and am looking for a more economical way to cool my apartment. I work alot and am only home at night and on the weekends. And my central air is really old. I did the math and I am only looking at about $15-40 more per month with this than the extra hundred I run with the central air. I figure if I get 3-4 years out of it, it would definitely be worth it. I would most likely only run it about 4-5 hours per weekday and about 10hours/day on the weekend.

I have an LG 12000 BTU portable AC and it works like a champ.Been running non stop for over a year. Cheaper to operate than most as it even has a energy saver setting. Your more apt to have trouble if the unit is too small for the application... I have one that I'm still using from when I was little, making it over 25 years old. It's not running that cold but it still works.
