Can I Vent My Portable Air Conditioner Into The Cold Air Return Without Any Adverse Affects Tothe Central Air?
I do not have a window conveniently available and drilling through a wall is not an option.....I do not want to damage my central air system. Any heating and cooling experts out there with some good advice would be appreciated. This is a portable air conditioner the kind with a venting hose not a window unit, my second floor doesnt get as cool as I would like that is the reason....Help!!
Answer:
No - do not do as you describe. The exterior side of the window unit will not have a means to carry off the hot air and you have no way to drain off the condensate. You will create a nightmare. Why do you want a window unit when you have central air anyway?
