Air Conditioner Installation
How do I install a window air conditioner in a room without windows. Cannot go through the wall as the homeowners association objects. May I place it on a stand with a basin to catch the drippings? Will this work??
Answer:
If increased humidity in the room is not a concern, you could use an evaporative type cooler like shown at the following link. These evaporate moisture into the room to reduce air temperature. There are also portable air conditioners that use a dryer style vent that can be directed outside or into another room to move one room's heat. (And leaving a refrigerator open will actually heat up your house.) Next time you buy a home, pick one without an association. A nice neighborhood driven by pride is much better than following a list of rules and paying endless do-nothing dues. You may need to ask your association about your options to stay cool. What about purchasing a portable air conditioner, the kind where the hot exhaust is vented through a hose. If you can't have the hose exiting your window I am sure you could install some ducting inside that will tie into your bath fan or dryer vent
