I would like some opinions on portable air conditioners?

They consume alot of energy need venting and water drainage. Better with a 220 window unit. the ones that mount in the window are much cheaper, take up no floor space, do not have a stupid air vent hose, and do not need to be emptied of water every couple of days (or more if it is a humid area)(they self drain outside) a good 11 eer window unit with remote will run $88-140 that is 11 btus heat moved outside per watt of power used I would get something with a high eer of 10.7-11 electricity is expensive how effecient are portables? must be lower because the hot parts are in the room. they are ONLY good if your windows are all too small for a window mount but if it was in a house I owned, I would cut a hole in the wall before I bought a portable You still need to vent them. This means you have to have windows that slide straight open.
