Should I Get A Portable Air Conditioner?
I'm on the 2nd floor of a private house that allows window air conditioners. However, I'm considering purchasing a portable air conditioner so that I can use it in the kitchen which is parallel to my room. My room is about 200 square feet. Does anyone know how beneficial they are and where I can get one at the best price possible?
Answer:
Only if you like being comfortable. I have one that cools my downstairs to 65 degrees. I really want to get another for my upstairs cause that one hardly keeps my master bedroom tolerable. Home Depot and Lowe's have several. Main thing to remember, unless it's water cooled you need to vent it out the window. The advantage to a portable unit is you can move it around, and hide it when it's not needed. Yes, they are extremely beneficial. I have one in the bedroom of a trailer, and between that and a couple of fans to help circulate the air the whole place stays comfortable. Ours came from Wal-mart, but you can check other department stores too. I GOT MINE AT SEARS AND IT WORKS VERY WELL. MY LIVING ROOM IS 16FT. X 26FT. THE AC IS 5000 BTU. COST ABOUT $176 A FEW YEARS AGO. THE NICE THING ABOUT THE ONES I HAVE IS THEY HAVE A REMOTE AND TIMER WHICH I USE A LOT. ITS NOT THAT HEAVY EITHER AND EASY TO INSTALL, I DID IT MYSELF. SOME DISCOUNT STORES HAVE THEM, WALLY WORLD, SHOP-KO, ETC. I DID PUT IN ANOTHER ONE LATER BECAUSE THE ROOM IS SO BIG AND ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE HOUSE. IT WAS OVER A HUNDRED DEGREES OUT AND WAS GIVING IT A RUN FOR ITS MONEY IN THAT HEAT BUT I DON'T RUN BOTH VERY OFTEN AND I'M HAPPY WITH THEM. I COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT THEM, I WOULD COOK!
